HOMESCHOOLING: Fourth month of homeschooling, and we're done with K2 curriculum. l Life with ZG

I haven't posted anything for a month since we're taking it slow nowadays. Zoe got a one week break from our homeschooling schedule and got lots of free play for a week. That break is a much-needed break for her so she can completely recover since she caught a cough, cold, and flu due to the weather here at Tagaytay. So I just let her enjoy her rest and let her take the exam after.

Just like that after 4 months of homeschooling we're done with kinder2 curriculum. Check out how our 4th month went by on the blog.

Today, after asking for a few more days of break extension. Zoe just finished her 2nd monthly exam for the 2nd quarter. It's our 4th month of homeschooling. And just like that, we're done with the K2 curriculum from our provider. But first, I need to make a final exam so that I can check if we're all good, and I can start introducing Grade 1 topics and other subjects that tickle her curiosity.

For the past four months of homeschooling, what I learned the most is to follow your child's pace. Every child is unique. So when your child doesn't meet your expectations or deadlines, don't get frustrated and trust your child instead.

Knowing what kind of teacher-mommy you are and what type of student you have is a trial and error, and it may take time. Remember to enjoy every ups and downs of your homeschooling journey because there's no one ahead of you and your child. So you don't need to feel the pressure of being "left behind".

English

For the month of October, we stopped using The good and the beautiful to focus on the parts of the speech in depth. So this month, we'll work on the good and the beautiful again and lots of books to practice Zoe's reading comprehension and vocabulary.

Science

We talked about plants, sounds, and energy. Since we're done with all the topics for Science. We'll focus on anatomy this month. Zoe loves anatomy and I've been buying lots of resources for her and she's excited that we can finally focus on anatomy this month. She's looking forward to lots of activities and experiments this month.

Math

We'll focus on mastering 3-4 digits of addition and subtraction this month before introducing multiplication and division. I'm also preparing activities for Money since it's about time for me to teach her the importance and value of money. Let's start them young.

Filipino

For Filipino, she will also practice reading Tagalog and I'll try to teach her more Tagalog words. Oh, and can you recommend your child's favorite Tagalog books? I don't have many Tagalog books in our mini library so I'm looking into getting a few more books. Thank you.

Sibika

Oh, we're done with k2 topics for all the subjects except Sibika. This month, we'll try to finish everything since there are only a few more topics left. Zoe already memorized the Lupang Hinirang but still "bulol" in some parts so she'll work on that this month too.

And that sums up our 4th month of homeschooling and the end of the K2 curriculum for Zoe. I'll try to share more resources this month so please stay tuned for that.

I hope you and your kids are enjoying your homeschooling journey. But if you're having a bumpy journey, that's okay. Take it slow. One day at a time. And don't ever compare your journey or your child to other children because every child is unique. I'm just a message away if you need some help.

Oh, if you find this post helpful, please don't forget to share it with your family and friends. Also, you might want to check out some free worksheets/resources. If you have any resources requests, let me know. I'll be back for more. Stay safe and healthy!
